A new leak has surfaced in the iOS 26 beta code, revealing detailed hints about the AirTag 2 and HomePod mini 2. Apple is finally bringing both devices with updates missing from the 2021 and 2020 models. According to the leak, their launch could take place in the first half of 2026.

AirTag 2: Easier Pairing, Battery Percentage, and Improved Precision

The internal code for iOS 26 lists five major upgrades for the AirTag:

1. Easier Pairing

Connecting the AirTag 2 to an iPhone will now be easier, especially for users who are using the tracking accessory for the first time.

2. Battery Percentage Indicator

AirTag 2 will finally display accurate battery percentage—a feature that was intentionally omitted in the original AirTag.

3. More Accurate Precision Finding

With the help of an ultra-wideband chip, both distance and direction will be more accurate. Tracking will be strong even in crowded places.

4. “Improved Moving” Feature

This new feature will make it easier to track carry-on items—like travel bags, wallets, or other items that are constantly moving.

5. Improved Tracking in Crowded Places

Interference was a problem in places like shopping malls—Apple is now optimizing this to reduce signal loss.

The focus of AirTag 2 is clearly on improving reliability for everyday use.

HomePod mini 2: New S10 Chip and Performance Boost

The biggest change in the HomePod mini 2 is the internal hardware refresh:

The old S5 chip will be replaced by the S10 processor.

RAM is being increased to 2 GB.

Siri responses, smart home automation, and audio processing will be smoother.

There will be a noticeable upgrade in overall performance due to Wi-Fi 4 limitations. This update matches Apple’s typical four-year hardware cycle.

Leak Source and Possible Pricing

Macworld spotted leaks in the internal code of iOS 26, which is also supported by previous reports from Bloomberg.

Estimated Pricing:

AirTag 2: Around €27 (may increase slightly)

HomePod mini 2: Around €100 (small adjustments possible)

Given Apple’s iterative design philosophy, these upgrades seem quite likely.

Conclusion

Both the AirTag 2 and HomePod mini 2 are expected to offer solid improvements in precision, performance, and user experience. The iOS 26 leak almost confirms their launch in early 2026. Existing models will still be available, but the successors are expected to be priced similarly.
