It’s rare for a Wi-Fi speaker to feel like a design statement, but Samsung appears determined to change that. Ahead of CES 2026, the company has revealed two new premium audio products—the Music Studio 5 and Music Studio 7—that put visual identity front and center.

Developed in collaboration with renowned French designer Erwan Bouroullec, the speakers are built around what Samsung calls a “timeless dot concept,” inspired by universal symbols in music and art. The result is a striking, monolithic look that leans more toward modern sculpture than traditional home audio gear. For some, the design even evokes the iconic monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey, intentional or not.

Music Studio 7: Samsung’s Most Immersive Speaker Yet

The Music Studio 7 is positioned as the flagship of the new lineup. Samsung describes it as its most immersive Wi-Fi speaker to date, featuring a 3.1.1-channel spatial audio setup with left, right, front, and top-firing speakers.

Under the hood, the speaker supports 24-bit audio processing at 96 kHz, a specification that will appeal to audiophiles seeking clarity and depth. It can also be paired with other Samsung Wi-Fi speakers to create a synchronized multi-room setup.

While the Music Studio 7 maintains the design language of the series, its form factor looks more familiar — clearly a speaker, but still refined and understated.

Music Studio 5: When Design Takes Priority

The Music Studio 5 is designed for buyers who value both the aesthetic appeal and sound quality of a speaker. Samsung positions it as a speaker for homes where “aesthetic harmony is as important as sound,” and the design reflects that philosophy.

Slightly smaller and more discreet than the Music Studio 7, the Music Studio 5 includes a 4-inch woofer, two tweeters, and Samsung’s AI Dynamic Bass Control, which dynamically enhances low frequencies while reducing distortion. The speaker is designed to blend into minimalist interiors rather than dominate them.

Smart Features, Familiar Convenience

Both speakers support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth casting, along with voice control, making them compatible with modern smart home setups. While these features are now standard in the category, their inclusion ensures the Music Studio line doesn’t fall behind established competitors.

A Stylish Alternative to Sonos

At their core, the Music Studio 5 and 7 appear to be as much about style as sound. They could appeal to listeners who admire the functionality of brands like Sonos but are looking for something visually different or who want an alternative ecosystem for app or design reasons.

For now, there are a few caveats. The speakers will launch only in black, and Samsung has not yet announced pricing. Given the premium design and audio specifications, neither model is expected to be inexpensive.

More details, including pricing and availability, are expected once Samsung officially showcases the Music Studio speakers at CES 2026 in January.
